Metro Namur and its architecture

La semaine dernière, je me suis rendue au métro Namur. J'avais oublié à quel point le design des plafonds de cette station était magnifique; de par ses formes, son médium et son originalité, sans compter les fluorescents arborant certains des arêtes de la structure. De loin ma station favorite à Montréal.

Last week, I got off at Namur metro. I forgot how beautiful the design of this station was - for its shapes, medium and originality, especially the fluorescent lights that stand on different spots of the structure. It is by far my favorite station of the metro line in Montreal.

Glam in the light

Back Alley with Haley

I took this pic about a month ago with Haley in my back alley. Good thing there are restaurants out there because they all have such back doors and stairways. I bought this curtain thinking about her specifically, knowing that I would wrap it all around to make it look like a sort of bride gown. The angle of this photo makes her legs look super duper long. Love it.

J'ai photographié Haley il y a environ un mois dans la ruelle derrière chez moi. C'est une bonne chose qu'il y ait tout plein de restaurants sur ma rue car on y retrouve plusieurs sorties d'escaliers et portes de ce genre. J'ai acheté ce rideau en pensant spécifiquement à elle, sachant que je voulais l'enrouler autour de sa taille afin de lui donner l'air d'une robe de mariée. L'angle de cette photo donne l'impression que ses jambes sont magistralement longues. J'aime.

The Dybbuk

Tonight, there was my friend Sandi Hilton playing a part in The Dybbuk play at La Sala Rossa, which was definitely the appropriate venue for it. I especially liked the important role the the lights were playing through out the story, it seems to be 'my thing' these days... I also love the image on the promo poster; it captured my heart and attention.

Mon amie Sandi Hilton a joué dans une pièce de théâtre (The Dybbuk) ce soir à La Sala Rossa, qui fut l'endroit idéal, soit dit en passant, pour présenter une telle pièce. J'ai par ailleurs vraiment apprécié l'éclairage et le rôle important qu'il a joué tout au long de l'histoire, on dirait bien que c'est une des choses que je remarque le plus ces temps-ci... De plus, j'aime beaucoup l'image utilisée pour la production imprimée; elle a su capter mon attention.

A.P.O. (Ateliers Portes Ouvertes)

Hier, j'ai eu le plaisir de me balader dans les couloirs mystérieux et ateliers tous aussi différents qu'originaux de quelques artistes du Mile-End. Certains m'ont inspirée pour leur technique ou leur corpus, d'autres par leur environnement. Ici, le travail de Stéphanie L'Heureux, directrice de la Diagonale, centre des arts de la fibre.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to walk around Mile-End studios and discover great artists through out the midst of mysterious buildings and hallways. I was very inspired by these fellow artists, some for their technique or corpus, some for their working environment. Here is Stéphanie L'Heureux's work, director or Diagonale, fiber arts centre.

Special Thanks to Allison Fairhurst, who kindly lent me her wood burner, which i just tried and fell in love with. Especially because I had this basswood plank that I've wanted to do something with. Isn't finished, but soon will be.

Un merci tout spécial à Allison Farihurst, qui m'a gentiment prêté son graveur à bois, que je viens tout juste d'essayer et d'adopter. Je suis spécialement contente d'avoir pu expérimenter sur cette planche de tilleul que je voulais utiliser d'une quelconque façon. Ce n'est bien entendu pas terminé, mais le sera bientôt.

This is a slight little sample of a recent series taken in my back alley with Manolis and Thomas. The concept was to show the contrast between materials - wood and leather - and textures found in the surroundings. The guys did the rest...

From A to the Z

Tonight, was a great night as I went out and took pictures of my friend and roommate Zoë. What was supposed to be a dark and cold evening turned out to be a fun and artificially lighted night. Plus, Zoë's natural beauty and surprising ease to pose helped me to develop the idea of playing around with movements and transparencies.

Ce fût une belle soirée que de photographier mon amie et coloc Zoë. Ce qui s'annonçait être une froide et sombre nuit s'est avérée plutôt agréable et hautes en lumières, bien qu'artificielles. La beauté naturelle de Zoë et son surprenant confort à poser m'ont aidé à pratiquer le mouvement et la transparence.

Inspired by the 'Vintage Photos' from the Sartorialist, I decided to pay tribute to my great grandparents, at the age 0f 19 and 26, back in 1923. They looked great, they were in love and they now have a family lake named after them.

Inspiré des "Photos vintage" du Sartorialist, j'ai décidé de rendre hommage à mes arrière-grands-parents, alors âgé de 19 et 26 ans en 1923. Ils étaient beaux, ils étaient éperdument amoureux et il y a maintenant un lac familial nommé en leur honneur.

Lizzy & the Orca, composé de Lysanne Picard et Sébastien Ménard, est un duo folk pop de Montréal à mélodie sympathique et style coloré, un must pour les oreilles en ce printemps pluvieux. Chez Baptiste sur Masson demain soir.

J'ai pris cette photo dans le cadre d'une série pour une autre expo, mais celle-ci s'est avérée parfaite pour représenter la complicité entre les deux tourtereaux. Tout le crédit va à Lysanne pour le crayonnage en cyan et magenta.

Lizzy & the Orca stands for Lysanne Picard and Sébastien Ménard, a folk pop Montréal based duet with a sweet melody and a colorful style, a must see (or hear) this spring, as it keeps on raining. Chez Baptiste on Masson tomorrow evening.

I took this photo as I needed a few shots for an exhibition, but this one seemed to be prefect to reflect the chemistry between the two lovers. All credits go to Lysanne for doodling over in cyan and magenta.

Sara & Mira

Mini sneak-peak on the first "brother + sister" photo-shoot i recently did with Henrika and Jeff (one out of many more to come; i love the thematic).

Petit coup d'oeil sur la première série photo "frère et soeur" que j'ai récemment réalisée en compagnie de Jeff et Henrika (comme j'aime la thématique, ce n'est que le début d'une série à compléter).

LACOSTE

Photo prise sur Ste-Catherine. Boutique Lacoste en construction. J'apprécie tout particulièrement le contraste entre la simplicité du symbole (?) et la complexité du graffiti révélé (merci Mère Nature) à seulement quelques endroits, créant un impact visuel d'autant plus fort de par sa monochromie et son uniformité.

Photo taken off Ste-Catherine St. (Lacoste boutique under construction). I particularly like the contrast and the simplicity found in a symbol (?) and the complexity of the graffiti revealed at a very few spots, creating a strong visual impact through its monochrome and uniformity.

Nouveaux écrans du Grand Foyer culturel de la Place des Arts par Baillat Cardell et fils. Je ne peux m'empêcher d'arrêter et d'admirer quand j'y passe... Magnifique coup d'oeil d'écrans de formats irréguliers, décuplés et divisés en constante communication.

Video installation created by Baillat, Cardell & Fils featured in Place des Arts. I can't hold myself from stopping and admiring each time i pass by.... beautiful work on irregular sized divided screens in ongoing communication.

Ça fait beaucoup trop longtemps que je n'ai pas écrit sur ce blog, non pas dû à un manque d'idées ou d'inspirations, bien au contraire, mais plutôt à un certain manque de discipline, alias procrastination... Voici un petit pitch de motivation de moi à moi.
